The past week has been a bit surreal.
Two big snowfalls in South Wales within the space of a week. Today I am snowed in again. Tried to get the car down the hill I live on this morning but after gliding sideways halfway down it, I gave it up as a bad job and trudged back to the house. The really bizarre thing is that although I have been able to get out and about around local hills, I havent been able to get anywhere near the Brecon Beacons for a bit of full on winter Mountain conditions…..
I have also committed the cardinal sin of forgetting to take my camera out and about this past week so I have nothing to post on here. I’ll try and remember if I get out today. Maybe a bit more sledging this afternoon with the kids. The last time we went out sledging, it was Saturday and I still have a happy memory of my two kids hurtling down a hill on a body board at 30mph squealing with mock fear and delight.

Saddlebags and Backpacks - a brewer's outdoor adventures 
They have a bar here in Helsinki, where you can loan a sled and go down the hill behind the bar. Then come back, have a hot grog and go sledging again. I love sledging, its great fun =)

Hi Dave, the snow has disappeared here in Berkshire – just wondered whether its still there on the Brecons and whether you’ve managed to make it out?
It’s a fine line between great conditions on the hills and road conditions that let you get there!! We we’re really lucky in Snowdonia over New Year as the snow arrived while we were there. I need to find time for a quick write up though I posted some pics are online here

the temperature did a crazy u-turn over the weekend and its been 10-12 deg Celcius. The snow has gone from here but didnt manage to get up to the Beacons. I had to work this weekend…… 😦
Still, I may try and get up on Thursday instead on my rest day 🙂
