The Arans trip coming up and a quick update

I am deep in planning for a trip to the Arans in 2 weeks time and I am quietly simmering with excitement. I guess the only thing that would put me off is the thought of a full weekend of rain but even then I have a contingency plan…

The basic outline is to camp by Lake Bala on the friday night (commercial campsite) which just happens to be 500yards from a very nice pub (oops). Saturday will be a stroll along the main ridge and then a figure of 8 around the southern part of the ridge and a wildcamp in the night (several options currently exist). If the weather proves unhelpful, there are several drop off points noted on the route with the worst coming to the worst of having to go back to the lakeside campsite for saturday night too. Currently 9 of us planning to turn up so it should prove to be a nice social gathering. Even better is the fact that we can have a campsite fire on the friday too.

Looking forward to this one…

Secondly, i did manage to get out last weekend to test the Unna. Along the way I completed 30miles of walking which is the most I have done in a weekend for a long time. I have a few pictures but sadly not many as my phone ran out of juice. I’ll try and pop these on and a little overview of the trip in the next few days

Are you planning to take the Unna? Hope the weather hold.

Yes Ben, that’s the intention. If the weather is poor at least I will be able to cope although slogging around for 3 days in the wet doesnt appeal. I pray for a bit of blue sky
