Planned walk for Sunday – A classic Brecon Beacons Horseshoe (well Black Mountains really)

All set for a long walk tomorrow.

Weather is looking ok-ish with the best of it in the morning. Am hoping for a bit of a special sunrise as I will be out early enough to catch it. The route isnt a new one but a tried and tested 17miler in the Eastern Brecon Beacons. Ok, so its the Black Mountains but who can blame me? The route is an absolute gem and one I try to do at least once or twice a year.

Basically, its the Crug Hywel horseshoe starting at Llanbedr, not far from Crickhowell, taking in Pen Cerrig Calch, Waun Fach and Pen-y-Gadair Fawr. Its also a great 2 dayer for overnighting and extending the route slightly to the Northern escarpment. Really looking forward to it and hoping for some photo opportunities. Really got the walking bug again and hopefully will fit in a wildcamp in the near future around the same area
