I have been using the Mammut Ajungilak pillow for my camping requirements for the past 6 years. It hasnt sprung a leak and it still works but recently I found that I was waking up due to earache. I think it is due to the fact that the pillow, even if partially deflated, is still unyielding compared to a proper pillow. After browsing through MLD’s website one day last week (as you do 🙂 ) I came across the Klymit Cush pillow. The design intrigued me as it appears to be very versatile being a sit mat and a pillow all in one. The other feature that really caught my eye was the “ear holes” present at the ends of the mat. These are just recesses that allow you to rest your ear without any pressure on it. Ingenuous.
The mat weighs in at 85 grammes and packs down to the size of an apple. I am not sure if there is any realistic insulation properties but if I place it in the hood of my sleeping bag it shouldnt matter much. If I use it on top of my new full length synmat then even better. I havent used it yet as its only just turned up! However the mat looks like it will be really useful when taken camping as you can use it in several different configurations and not just for sleeping on. When I get to test it fully, I’ll report back with a full review.
I have used mine on a long haul flight and its adaptability makes it an ideal travel pillow, if you need such a thing. Also multi use and therefore ideal for the weight conscious hiker. It makes a great seat as well.
Thanks Nielsen, the versatility in combination with the ear recesses I am hoping will make this a winner for me
Hello, I’m thinking to order either Klymit Cush Pillow or the Montbell UL Comfort Pillow. Which one is better (comfortable)? Both pillows have 90g weight and pretty comact….
I havent used the Montbell UL pillow so cant comment on that one. The Klymit is light and very packable but I havent had chance to thoroughly test it yet
Thank you!
