RIP Montrail CTC’s

So after several thousand miles of walking, scrambling, running and occasionally playing football in them, my Montrail CTC trail shoes finally gave up the ghost. In fact they passed away doing what they were made to do….walking in the great outdoors. It was while I was walking with Barney and my daughter on Skirrid Fawr that I felt the sole on my right shoe half detach. A quick look confirmed that they were beyond resuscitation but with a my laces managed to tie the sole to the side of the shoe to keep it from slop slop slopping along!

Still, they have done well and although I rate them my best ever walking shoes, its time to move on. The only trouble is….what do I wear now?!
