1st Walk of the Year!!!!

Out of the blocks and on to the 1st walk of the year! I dragg…….persuaded the kids to come out with me and the pooch for a walk yesterday. I decided to take a jaunt up to Libanus in the Brecon Beacons where the Mountain Centre for the National Park is situated. Apart from information, a nice cafe and views of the central massif, there are acres of easy walks to be had upon Mynydd Illtud Common behind the centre.

A wet walk!

The weather was cold but bright and for once not raining! It was however extremely wet underfoot and I was glad of my waterproof shoes. The kids were well wrapped up and Barney had his coat on and a good job too. The walks on the common are family orientated and quite easy and just the thing for blowing away the cobwebs in a gentle way! The tops of Pen-y-Fan and Corn Du had a smattering of snow on them showing just how chilly it was.

The view towards Pen-y-Fan

A couple of hours later and we had done enough for the day so it was back to the centre for a cup of tea and a bun. It felt good to get out and Barney loved it especially with the kids being out as well.

The trig point

Bring on the rest of 2013…!
