Favourite views – looking north to the Black Mountains

black mountains 3

I count myself lucky in where I live. The sea to the south, the Wye Valley to the east and the Welsh Valleys to the West. So whats North? The Brecon Beacons and specifically The Black Mountains.

Everytime I go out on the bike or out for a walk, its difficult not to catch a glimpse of this wonderful stretch of landscape filled with hills and valleys. The photo above was taken whilst out and about around the lovely town of Usk. In the distance are the unmissable shapes of Blorenge, Sugar Loaf, Skirrid Fawr, Hay Bluff and Twmpa forever imprinted in my mind. I have tromped up and down them all and more besides. Seeing them all together reminds me of why this is one of my favourite views
